picoBalloons

HABs – high-altitude balloons, or picoBalloons are miniature devices some HAMs send to atmosphere to fly around the Earth sending telemetry and position via WSPR, or APRS. On this page you can find list of my picoBalloon missions, which are being lauched under my club callsign – OK2KFL.

OK2KFL-2 (KFL-2): In construction. Will use ZachTek WSPR TX Pico as hardware.

OK2KFL-1 (KFL-1): Mission was active 23-24 June 2024 and flew 1500km. See mission tracking dashboard.

The sonde uses Traquito Jetpack as hardware. It broadcasts its position on 14 MHz band using WSPR mode for wide coverage. Special WSPR mode using LU1AA tracking network enables to broadcast 6-character grid square as well as approximate altitude.
